dead and not gone
A well written history of an interesting topic.
Dead bodies under your feet
Necropolis is one of those fascinating books that one reads with a sort of guilty pleasure, treading over remains of the dead long gone and not pleasantly remembered.
Always an excellent choice
An incredible, educational read.

Absolutely delightful read
I don't have much to add to other reviews, but I think this is a really good read in general; and could even serve as a nice additional travel book -- I have visited London, but was not aware of some of the highlights like Highgate cemetery, and those would be nice places to visit.
No images!
Also seriously disappointed that the images were missing in Kindle edition.
Like living with the dead!
I didn't quite know what to expect, but this very detailed account of London's experience with disastrous plagues and the Great Fire is graphically described, and actually makes interesting--if not gruesome--reading.
History is not Pretty
Anyone who is tempted to romanticize history would be well advised to reasd this well researched history of London and its problems with burials.
Knowing where the bodies are buried, literally
\"I see dead people.
Thrilling
A simply wonderful book!
